Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a disorder that affects your large intestine (colon). Symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome include cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, diarrhea, loose stool, and constipation.

Causes of irritable bowel syndrome are determined through stool analysis performed at Essential Wellness Center.

  • Foods. Many people find that their signs and symptoms worsen when they eat certain foods. For instance, chocolate, milk and alcohol might cause constipation or diarrhea. Carbonated beverages and some fruits and vegetables may lead to bloating and discomfort in some people with IBS. The role of food allergy or intolerance in irritable bowel syndrome has yet to be clearly understood. Essential Wellness provides food allergy testing or IgG testing to determine which foods the body is reacting negatively.

  • Stress. If you're like most people with IBS, you probably find that your signs and symptoms are worse or more frequent during stressful events, such as a change in your daily routine. But while stress may aggravate symptoms, it doesn't cause them. Learning coping mechanisms and triggers with your natural health care orivder can go a long way in healing your symptoms.
  • Hormones. Because women are more likely to have IBS, researchers believe that hormonal changes play a role in this condition. Many women find that signs and symptoms are worse during or around their menstrual periods. Hormonal testing can determine the likelyhood of this as a contributing factor.
  • Immune System dysfunction. The immune system can be challenged through candida or other fungal issues, bacterias, parasites, as well as heavy metals. Essential Wellness Center provides testing to determine the likelyhood of these scenerios as well as reviewing your current CBC panel from your last physical.
