Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas to control blood sugar. Diabetes can be caused by too little insulin, resistance to insulin, or both. Pre diabteic conditions are jsut as important as diabetic conditions. Ensuring that you maintain healthy blood sugar level is key to long lasting health free from disease.
Signs of Diabetes
High blood sugar levels can cause several symptoms, including:
- Blurry vision
- Excess thirst
- Fatigue
- Frequent urination
- Hunger
- Weight loss
Because type 2 diabetes develops slowly, some people with high blood sugar have no symptoms.
Symptoms of type 1 diabetes develop over a short period of time. People may be very sick by the time they are diagnosed.
Testing
Complete metabolic panel – This is what we use to measure glucose. It is also used to assess liver and kidney function especially for those detoxing.
HGBA1C – This reviews glucose over a 3-6 month period of time.
Leptin – Is the hormone that tells your brain to burn fat for energy and controls appetite. We use this marker for any of our weight loss resistance patients and for diabetes because of its relationship to glucose and insulin. Note: A severe leptin rise could indicate a toxic state especially biotoxins. Normal levels male or female should be under 10.
C-Reactive Protein – Inflammatory marker used as a predictor for heart disease and sign of underlying infection.
Microalbumin: Assists in early detection of diabetic renal disease. High blood pressure combined with high glucose levels can create renal disease and possible failure.
